For All Time. Always. is the sixth and final episode of Loki season 1. In it, Loki and Sylvie travel to the Citadel at the End of Time to meet He Who Remains, a calm and powerful figure who explains that he created the Time Variance Authority (TVA) to keep order after a multiversal war. He reveals that variants of himself sparked the war, and to end it he used a powerful creature and built the TVA to prune any branches that could lead to new timelines. He offers Loki and Sylvie a choice: kill him and unleash a multiverse of timelines, or take over the TVA and continue his control.

Back at the TVA, Ravonna Renslayer learns the truth that many TVA workers are actually variants, and she and Mobius clash as they question each other’s loyalties. Meanwhile, in 2018 Fremont, Hunter B-15 confronts a TVA student and hints at deeper questions of free will and fate.

At the End of Time, He Who Remains explains that he can see all futures and has guided them to him. He says his goal is to prevent another multiversal war by keeping a single timeline. Sylvie, driven by anger, decides to kill him, while Loki pleads and tries to protect her. Sylvie’s killing of He Who Remains unleashes many new timelines, breaking the sacred timeline and releasing the multiverse.

Loki is later sent to a TVA in a different timeline where Mobius and B-15 do not recognize him. A statue of Kang the Conqueror stands in place of the Time Keepers, signaling a shift in the MCU’s future. The ending also includes a mid-credits moment that hints Loki will return for a second season.

The episode introduces He Who Remains, a variant of Kang the Conqueror played by Jonathan Majors. It was directed by Kate Herron and written by Michael Waldron and Eric Martin, with Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains, and Owen Wilson as Mobius among the ensemble cast. Filming took place in Georgia at Pinewood Studios and around the Atlanta area, with the Citadel at the End of Time designed to evoke a mysterious, ancient technology-filled space.

For All Time. Always. was released on Disney+ on July 14, 2021, and later appeared in Loki’s first-season Blu-ray and Ultra HD releases. It received praise for Majors’ performance and the Kang reveal, while some critics noted heavy exposition or mixed feelings about how the finale wrapped up the season.
