Didier Zokora

Didier Zokora is a former Ivorian footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He was born on 14 December 1980 in Abidjan and stands 1.79 m tall. He had a long club career across Europe and beyond, starting at ASEC Mimosas in Ivory Coast, then Genk in Belgium (where he won the league in 2001–02), Saint-Étienne in France, Tottenham Hotspur in England, Sevilla in Spain, and Trabzonspor in Turkey, before finishing with clubs in India and Indonesia. He totalled 468 club appearances and scored 2 goals.

Internationally, Zokora earned 123 caps for Ivory Coast between 2000 and 2014, scoring one goal. He played in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups and helped the Ivory Coast reach the Africa Cup of Nations final in 2012. He retired from international football in 2012, briefly returned for the 2014 World Cup, and later retired again.

He now works as an assistant manager at AFAD Djékanou. Personal note: his younger brother Armando died in a drowning accident, and Didier honors him with an Armando tattoo on his right forearm.
