Donald Wood-Smith, MD, FACS, FRCSEd, is an Australian-born surgeon and professor known for plastic and reconstructive surgery. He was born Donald Smith in Sydney on June 30, 1931. He studied at Newington College, the University of Sydney Medical School, and the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh.

In the United States, he trained as a resident at NYU Langone Medical Center and Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, and he completed fellowships at Bellevue Hospital and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.

Wood-Smith later became a professor of Clinical Surgery at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, an attending surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center, and the chair of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has been quoted in the press about cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.
