Fireproof is a song by One Direction from their fourth album, Four. It was released on September 8, 2014, as the first promotional single ahead of the album. The track runs 2 minutes 54 seconds and blends pop with soft rock. It was written by Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, John Ryan, Jamie Scott, and Julian Bunetta, with Bunetta and Ryan producing. The song was released as a free download for 24 hours when the band announced Four would arrive on November 17, 2014.

The tempo is about 132 BPM and it is in the key of E-flat major. The band’s Niall Horan said the song was one of their favorites.

Fireproof received mostly positive reviews. Billboard called it an easy-going pop song with a catchy melody, while Stitched Sound praised the growth in the band’s writing and sound. Bustle, however, called it boring. Fans were very engaged online, generating around 1.7 million tweets about the track. In 2025, Rolling Stone ranked it as the 106th best song of the 21st century. Mitski released a cover of the track in April 2015.

Commercially, Fireproof sold 1.1 million downloads worldwide in the first 24 hours, a record for most downloaded song in a day. It sold 3,723 copies in the UK and debuted at number 92 on the UK Singles Chart. In the US, it peaked at number two on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.
