Fernando de Carvajal y Ribera
Fernando de Carvajal y Ribera (1632–24 April 1701) was a Spanish Catholic archbishop who led the Archdiocese of Santo Domingo from 1687 to 1700. Born in Salamanca, he became a friar in the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy. The King of Spain chose him as Archbishop of Santo Domingo in March 1687, and the Pope confirmed the appointment. He was consecrated on 18 May 1687 by Marcello Durazzo. He served as archbishop until resigning in December 1700 and died in April 1701 at age 69. During his time as bishop, he was the main consecrator of José González Blázquez, Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo (1688), and a co-consecrator of Gregorio Solórzano Castillo, Bishop of Ávila (1700).
