Winter Power
Winter Power is an Irish-bred, British-trained bay filly who excels at five furlongs. She was foaled on 16 March 2018, bred by Newlands House Stud in County Kildare, and bought as a yearling for €90,000. She runs for King Power Racing and is trained by Tim Easterby at Great Habton, North Yorkshire, usually ridden by Silvestre de Sousa.
Sired by Bungle Inthejungle and out of Titian Saga, she is a natural sprinter with a strong competitive streak. Her 2020 season was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, but she showed potential with four wins from nine starts, including the Listed Harry Rosebery Stakes and the Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes.
In 2021 she continued to rise. She won the Listed Westow Stakes at York and then the City Walls Stakes at York. Her biggest triumph came in the Nunthorpe Stakes at York, where she defeated a high-class international field to land a first-place finish at Group 1 level. Earlier that year she also contested the King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
