Ayisha Malik is a British author from London who writes contemporary fiction and romance. She studied English literature at Kingston University and earned a master’s degree in creative writing. Her debut novel, Sofia Khan is Not Obliged, was published in 2015, followed by The Other Half of Happiness in 2017. Malik has worked as a publicist for Penguin Random House, mirroring the publishing world she writes about. She also consulted on Nadiya Hussain’s The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters. In 2016 she was named a WHSmith Fresh Talent pick, and Sofia Khan is Not Obliged was optioned for television. Malik is Muslim and draws on her experiences as a Muslim woman, with her novels focusing on Muslim dating and marriage. She has lived in London all her life.
