Eric M. Runesson
Eric Michael Runesson (born 26 September 1960 in Stockholm) is a Swedish lawyer who serves as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Sweden and as a member of the Swedish Academy (Seat No. 1). He studied at Stockholm University and earned an LLM from Harvard Law School. He joined the Swedish Bar Association in 1993 and became a partner at Sandart & Partners in 1996. He earned a Doctor of Law degree from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1996, with a thesis on reconstructing incomplete contracts, and began teaching as a lecturer in 2000. He was appointed Justice of the Supreme Court on 14 June 2018 and took office on 3 September 2018. He was elected to the Swedish Academy on 4 October 2018 and officially joined on 20 December 2018, taking Seat No. 1, succeeding Lotta Lotass.
