Babken Ararktsyan

Babken Gurgeni Ararktsyan (Armenian: Բաբկեն Գուրգենի Արարքցյան; 16 September 1944 – 13 December 2023) was an Armenian mathematician and politician. He was born in Yerevan, then part of the Armenian SSR in the USSR. He led Armenia’s government in its early years as Chairman of the Supreme Council from 21 September 1991 to 27 July 1995, and then as Speaker of the National Assembly from 27 July 1995 to 3 February 1998. He belonged to the Pan-Armenian National Movement. Ararktsyan died on 13 December 2023 at the age of 79.
