Mississippi follows a regular schedule for elections to federal and state offices. Presidential elections occur every four years, with the most recent in 2020. Members of the U.S. House of Representatives are elected every two years, most recently in 2020. Gubernatorial elections, along with elections for all state lawmakers, are held every four years; the last governor’s race was in 2019. The state’s two U.S. Senate seats are elected for six-year terms in overlapping cycles: Class 1 last voted in 2018, and Class 2 in 2020. A 2020 study ranked Mississippi as the fourth hardest state for citizens to vote in.
