Eduardo Gonçalves de Oliveira, commonly known as Edu, is a Brazilian former footballer who played as a striker. Born on 30 November 1981 in São Paulo, he is 1.85 m tall. After coming through youth teams Guarani, Santos and São Paulo, he had a long professional career across Brazil, Germany, South Korea, Turkey, China and Japan. His senior clubs included Náutico, CRAC, VfL Bochum, Mainz 05, Suwon Samsung Bluewings, Schalke 04 (with loans to Beşiktaş and Greuther Fürth), Liaoning Whowin, FC Tokyo, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and Hebei China Fortune. Notable moments: for Beşiktaş he scored his first league goal in December 2011 against Samsunspor, and he added a memorable Europa League group-stage goal against Stoke City, helping Beşiktaş finish top of the group. He joined Liaoning Whowin on 28 February 2013 and scored on his debut, and he moved to Hebei China Fortune on 9 July 2015. Edu ended his career with 358 appearances and 114 goals.
