Adrian McDonald
Adrian William McDonald (born 25 May 1962) is a former Australian rugby union player who played as a scrum-half.
He was born in Mildura, Victoria, and went to St Patrick's College, Goulburn, where he helped the school reach ACT Schools selection. He later moved to Sydney and played first grade for Parramatta.
McDonald represented Australia at under-21 level in 1982 and 1983. In 1983, he was a substitute for New South Wales when Argentina beat them, backing up Tony Parker for the Wallabies. He was then named in the Wallabies squad for the second Test against Argentina, but did not earn a cap, staying on the bench.
His club career included six seasons with Eastwood before he moved to Randwick in 1990. He won four premierships with Randwick and captained West Harbour for a season in 1995.
In 1991, he was part of Australia's expanded 35-man squad for the Rugby World Cup. Injuries to Nick Farr-Jones and Peter Slattery during the quarter-final against Ireland led to McDonald being flown to Dublin as cover, but he was not required to play. Australia won the tournament, and he earned a winner’s medal without being capped.
McDonald finished his playing career in Western Australia, captaining the state team against the touring 1996 Wales side and winning three premierships with the Perth club Associates.
