With Devils Amongst Us All
With Devils Amongst Us All is the third studio album by Walls of Jericho. It was released on August 21, 2006, by Trustkill Records and runs 35 minutes and 1 second. Recording took place March 6 to April 4, 2006 at Spider Studios in Cleveland. This was the first Walls of Jericho album with drummer Dustin Schoenhofer. The band worked with outside producer Ben Schiegel to help develop their own sound.
Musically, the album blends metalcore and thrash metal with melodic moments. The lyrics focus on overcoming obstacles, personal experiences, and social issues. The band spent four to five months writing the album, giving them more time to develop ideas and tighten the songs, and Schoenhofer’s style influenced the new material.
The album received generally positive reviews. It peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums Chart and No. 31 on the Top Independent Albums Chart, with about 2,800 copies sold in the first week. To promote it, they made a video for “A Trigger Full of Promises,” which aired on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball, and they toured extensively in 2006–2007, including Ozzfest and the Family Values Tour.
Key songs explore various themes: “A Trigger Full of Promises” is about finding love and overcoming barriers; “The Haunted” has a melodic chorus and raises awareness about rape; “And Hope To Die” deals with friends who died by suicide; “No Saving Me” is a power ballad about feeling alienated on tour and was noted as controversial by some critics; “Welcome Home” addresses domestic violence; “I Know Hollywood and You Ain’t It” is described as a crust-punk stomp. The band has said they remained honest and unafraid of controversy, aiming to grow beyond their previous work.
All tracks were written by Walls of Jericho.
