Eden Water

Eden Water is a small river in the Scottish Borders and a tributary of the River Tweed. In Lowland Scots, "water" means a small river. The Eden Water begins near Lauder, rising at Corsbie Moor on Boon Farm. It flows past Bassendean village and Bassendean House, then through the hamlets of Fawside and Mack’s Mill. It continues to Gordon, passes through Gordon East Mains and goes under the A6105, then runs through the Mellerstain House estate. The river heads east toward Old Nenthorn, Nenthorn House and Nenthorn, where the A6089, B6404 and B6364 cross. It then passes Ednam Cliftonhill and Ednam East Mill before joining the River Tweed near the A698 bridge.

The name Eden likely comes from an old Brittonic word meaning “to gush forth.”
