Ashikaga Yoshikatsu
Ashikaga Yoshikatsu (March 19, 1434 – August 16, 1443) was the seventh shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate in Japan’s Muromachi period. He became shogun as a child after his father, Shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori, was killed in 1441, and he ruled from 1442 to 1443. His mother was Hino Shigeko, and his childhood name was Chiyachamaru. At first, Hino Tomiko, the wife of Yoshimasa, was betrothed to him.
Yoshikatsu died at the young age of 9 from injuries after a fall while riding a horse, ending his short reign. After his death, his younger brother Yoshinari became shogun and later took the name Yoshimasa.
