Echeveria amoena

Content sourced from Wikipedia, licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

Echeveria amoena is a succulent plant from the Crassulaceae family, native to semi-arid areas of Mexico (Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Veracruz). It is a herbaceous perennial that grows a stem up to 8 cm long and forms a compact rosette usually under 5 cm across. The leaves are fleshy and shaped like rounded teardrops with smooth edges and a pointed tip.

The flowering stalk is a simple spike, 10 to 22.5 cm tall, usually reddish, with several alternating upward-pointing succulent bracts that can be green, red, or pink-orange. The petals are similar in color to the bracts.

Echeveria amoena was described in 1875 by Morren, attributed to De Smet. There is a known hybrid, Echeveria subalpina × amoena, which some authors consider to be a separate species called E. meyraniana.
