Duntrune Castle sits on the north side of Loch Crinan, opposite Crinan village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is believed to be the oldest continuously occupied castle on mainland Scotland and was the seat of the Campbells of Duntroon until 1792. The castle is a Category B listed building.

Built in the 13th century by the MacDougall clan, it was part of a group of castles in the area, including Dunollie near Oban. The Campbells later took Duntrune and made it their home. In the 17th century it was besieged by the rival MacDonalds under Alasdair Mac Colla. The Campbells sold the castle in 1792 to the Malcolms of Poltalloch. Today it is owned by Robin Neill Malcolm, the clan chief of Clan Malcolm.

The curtain wall dates from the 13th century, while the main tower house was built in the 17th century. Duntrune was renovated in 1954. The gateposts of Skyfall Lodge, James Bond’s boyhood home in the film Skyfall, were modeled after those at Duntrune. A photo of Duntrune Castle was used on the inner sleeve of Blue Öyster Cult’s Imaginos album.
