Dublin (1784 EIC ship)
Dublin was a three-deck, full‑rigged East Indiaman built by Wells at Deptford and launched in 1784. Owned by John Clements and operated for the British East India Company, she carried about 785–786 tons (bm), measured around 145 feet in length, and had a beam of about 34 feet. She sailed with a crew of about 90 and was armed with 26 nine‑pounder guns and four smaller guns.
Dublin made six long voyages to India and China for the EIC between 1785 and 1800. On her last EIC voyage, under Captain Robert Reay, she recaptured the country ship Solimany from a French privateer on 19 March 1799 after it had been taken by Heureux.
In 1800, Dublin was sold to trade with the West Indies and became a West Indiaman, but she apparently was lost on her first voyage. She is last listed in shipping registers in 1802 (or Lloyd’s Register in 1806).
