Drupal Commerce is open‑source eCommerce software that adds shopping features to the Drupal content management system. It lets you list products, guide customers through checkout, and manage invoices, orders, payments, and shipping. It is written in PHP, cross‑platform, and released under the GNU General Public License.

Created by Commerce Guys and led by Ryan Szrama (the creator of Übercart), Drupal Commerce started as a rewrite of Übercart called Übercore and was renamed in January 2010. Version 1.0 was released on August 23, 2011. The project has grown steadily, and by December 2023 more than 42,000 active sites used it, including Royal Mail, Eurocentres, and McDonald’s France.

There are many resources to learn it, including books and video courses. Like Drupal itself, Drupal Commerce can be extended with modules and themes. There are more than 300 free Drupal Commerce modules available for things like payment gateways, shipping providers, and admin/development tools. The latest stable release is 2.40 (as of August 22, 2024).
