Don't Disturb This Groove (album)
Don't Disturb This Groove is the fourth studio album by American R&B/synthpop duo the System. It was released January 14, 1987, on Atlantic Records and was recorded in 1986. The album mixes techno-funk and R&B and runs 48 minutes and 23 seconds. It was produced by David Frank and Mic Murphy.
The album became the System’s most commercially successful release, reaching No. 62 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the R&B Albums chart. The singles were the title track "Don't Disturb This Groove" (released January 1987), which became the band's first (and so far only) top-10 pop hit, and "Nighttime Lover." The track "House of Rhythm" features Doug E. Fresh.
Critical reception was mixed: AllMusic critic Ron Wynn called the title track the peak of the System’s techno-funk sound, while The Village Voice critic Robert Christgau gave the album a negative placement in his Consumer Guide. All songs were written by David Frank and Mic Murphy, except "Come as You Are (Superstar)" which was written by Frank, Murphy, and Paul Pesco.
