Jared Polis is an American politician and businessman who has been the governor of Colorado since 2019. A Democrat, he was born on May 12, 1975, in Boulder, Colorado, and studied politics at Princeton University.

Before becoming governor, Polis built a career in technology and business. He co-founded several companies, including bluemountain.com and ProFlowers, and helped start TechStars in Boulder.

Polis’s public service began on the Colorado State Board of Education (2001–2007). He then served five terms in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Colorado’s 2nd district (2009–2019).
