Disco Love
Disco Love is a 2013 disco-influenced electropop song by The Saturdays, from their fourth album Living for the Weekend. It was released as the fourth single on 4 October 2013. The track is 3 minutes and 13 seconds long and was written and produced by the Icelandic duo StopWaitGo. The single’s B-sides, Love Come Down and On the Radio, are covers originally recorded by Evelyn King and Donna Summer, and the lyrics give a nod to Donna Summer.
Disco Love reached number 5 on the UK Singles Chart, with first-week sales of 51,690 copies. The song is noted for its disco theme, a hallmark shared with its B-sides, and even references Bee Gees and Britney Spears’ debut as part of its lyrics.
The music video, shot in July 2013 around Blackheath Common, premiered on Vevo on 25 August 2013. In the video, The Saturdays travel through three eras—1979, 1989 and 1999—dressing in era-appropriate outfits and performing in different settings: the countryside, a rollerskating rink, and a skatepark. The group announced the single on 26 July 2013 via their official Facebook.
Promotion for Disco Love included live performances starting with its first on ITV’s Stepping Out on 21 September 2013. During release week they appeared on Sunday Brunch and Surprise Surprise (6 October), Daybreak (7 October), and This Morning (9 October). The following week they promoted Living for the Weekend with a G-A-Y Heaven show in London (12 October) and appearances on The Alan Titchmarsh Show (16 October) and The Paul O’Grady Show. Frankie Sandford did not participate in live performances due to pregnancy.
