Edmond Hervé (born 3 December 1942) is a French politician from the Socialist Party. He was the mayor of Rennes from 1977 to 2008 and later served as a senator for Ille-et-Vilaine from 2008 to 2014. He also held government roles in the early 1980s, serving as Energy Minister from 1981 to 1983 and as Secretary of State for Health from 1983 to 1986 under President François Mitterrand.

Born in La Bouillie, Côtes-d’Armor, Hervé grew up as the son of tenant farmers. He studied public law at the University of Rennes and earned a graduate degree in political science. He began teaching administrative and constitutional law in 1969. He has three children: one daughter and two sons.

Hervé built his political career through activism and became mayor of Rennes in 1977. He left his teaching post to focus on city governance and pushed an innovative urban policy emphasizing social mixing, culture, ecology, and public transport, including the Rennes Metro. On 20 January 2007, he announced he would not seek a sixth term as mayor, and he left office in 2008 when he was elected to the Senate.
