Diego Lapera
Diego José Lapera Sotolongo, nicknamed Cheo, is a Cuban former volleyball player born on November 13, 1950. He was an outside hitter on the Cuban national team from 1970 to 1980, wearing number 9 and standing 1.81 meters tall.
Lapera competed in three Olympic Games: 1972 in Munich, 1976 in Montreal, and 1980 in Moscow. In 1972, Cuba finished 10th and Lapera played in all six matches. In 1976, Cuba won the bronze medal and he again played all six matches. In 1980, Cuba finished seventh and he appeared in two matches. He also represented Cuba in other major events, including the Pan American Games and Central American and Caribbean Games.
