Service-oriented submission

Service-oriented submission is a form of BDSM where a submissive person performs tasks for a dominant partner as part of their role. The submissive is said to be in service to the dominant. It’s one option within a range of submissive behaviors, and not all submissives practice it.

In everyday life, a submissive may enjoy serving the dominant by doing personal services such as acting as a butler, maid, chauffeur, waiter, or housekeeper. They often derive satisfaction from focusing on another's needs, and the service can be done in a humble or dignified way.

In the leather subculture, bootblacking is a service-oriented task and can include boot-licking. The act of service is often connected with fetishes or humiliation, or both. A submissive might rub the dominant’s feet because they enjoy serving, have a foot fetish, or prefer being seen as lower than the dominant, among other reasons.
