Playboy is a 1962 song by The Marvelettes from their album Playboy. It was written by Brian Holland, Robert Bateman, Mickey Stevenson and lead singer Gladys Horton, who sings the lead with backing from Wanda Young, Georgeanna Tillman, Katherine Anderson and Juanita Cowart. The song is about a man who flirts with many women, and a woman who warns him to stay away after hearing rumors about him. It was released as the third single on Motown’s Tamla label, with “All the Love I’ve Got” as the B-side, and came out on April 9, 1962. Playboy reached number 7 on the pop charts and number 4 on the R&B charts. It was later sampled in Dickie Goodman’s 1962 novelty record “Ben Crazy,” a parody of the TV show Ben Casey.
