Dick Miller (athlete)
Dick Miller (Richard Dennis William Miller) was a British athlete from Northern Ireland who specialized in the javelin throw. He was born on 14 February 1929 in Reading, England, and died on 7 January 2021 at age 91. He was 183 cm tall and weighed 88 kg, and he competed for the London Athletic Club.
Miller competed in the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki in the men's javelin throw after finishing second at the 1952 AAA Championships, behind Michael Denley. He was also runner-up at the 1963 AAA Championships, finishing behind Colin Smith. Initially listed as a reserve, he was added to the Northern Irish team in September 1962 and went on to compete in the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Australia, in the javelin.
