Dewald Brevis
Dewald Brevis is a South African cricketer nicknamed “Baby AB.” Born on 29 April 2003 in Johannesburg, he is a right-handed batsman who can bowl leg-spin and is considered a batting all-rounder.
Domestic and franchise cricket
- He has played for the Titans and Northerns in South Africa, and for MI Cape Town in the SA20.
- He has been part of major global T20 franchises: Mumbai Indians (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (IPL), St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (CPL), MI New York (MLC), and Kandy Falcons (Lanka Premier League).
- In 2025 he joined Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and later moved to the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20 for a record transfer fee.
- He also spent time with Hampshire in England’s T20 Blast.
International career
- Brevis was first named to South Africa’s senior squad in August 2023. He made his T20I debut on 30 August 2023 against Australia.
- He made his Test debut on 28 June 2025 against Zimbabwe and his ODI debut on 19 August 2025 against Australia.
- In August 2025, he scored 125 not out off 56 balls in a T20I against Australia, becoming the youngest South African to a T20I century and setting SA’s high-scoring mark against Australia.

- In the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, he scored 506 runs, was named Player of the Tournament, and helped South Africa win a record-breaking tally.
- He owns the highest T20 score by a South African in domestic cricket (162 off 57 balls for the Titans) and the fastest 150 in South Africa (reached in 52 balls).
- He became the youngest South African to score a century in T20Is and later delivered a memorable 125* against Australia.
