Delicious Surprise
Delicious Surprise is the fifth studio album by Jo Dee Messina, released on April 26, 2005, by Curb Records. It followed her 2003 Greatest Hits collection and was her first non-Christmas album since Burn (2000). Messina helped write several songs and produced the album herself for the first time.
The album performed well on the charts, reaching number one on the Top Country Albums chart and number seven on the Billboard 200, making it her highest-charting album on that chart at the time. It was certified Gold by the RIAA.
Singles:
- My Give a Damn’s Busted, which topped the Hot Country Songs chart for two weeks
- Delicious Surprise (I Believe It)
- Not Going Down
- It’s Too Late to Worry
All of these had top-forty showings on the country charts.
The album runs about 43 minutes and contains 12 tracks, including Not Going Down, Delicious Surprise (I Believe It), and My Give a Damn’s Busted.
Production and personnel:
The project features many Nashville musicians and was produced by Byron Gallimore, Tim McGraw, Mark Bright, and Jo Dee Messina.
After Delicious Surprise, Messina did not release another full studio album until 2014’s Me, with related material that later became EPs in the Unmistakable project.
