Keyti, born Cheikh Sène on 22 December 1972 in Senegal, is one of the first and most known hardcore hip hop artists there. He started with the group Rap’Adio with Iba and Bibson, making music that harshly criticized society. They released Ku Wéét Xam Sa Bopp in 1998 and Soldaaru Mbed in 2001 before splitting. Keyti released his first solo album Jog ak Daanu in 2003, continuing to address youth struggles and the problems of power and money. In 2006 he joined the West African hip hop collective AURA and took part in the musical comedy The Extraordinary Stories of Poto-Poto Children as Mamadi. He has also worked on media projects for Hip Hop Galsen, including the 2013 rapped news program Journal Tele Rappe, and supported Amnesty International with the single 100 Coupables: Impunité! Nous Avons besoin de Justice.
