Syntrophus is a Gram-negative genus of bacteria in the family Syntrophaceae. It is part of the domain Bacteria, phylum Thermodesulfobacteriota, class Syntrophia, and order Syntrophales. The type species is Syntrophus buswellii. Known species include S. aciditrophicus, S. buswellii, and S. gentianae. The taxonomy follows standard databases such as LPSN and NCBI. S. aciditrophicus was described in 2015, S. buswellii in 1984, and S. gentianae in 1996.
