Deep Jyoti Stambha
Deep Jyoti Stambha, also called Deepa Stambha (Sanskrit: दीपस्तंभ, dīpastambha), is a distinctive Hindu temple structure. Deep means lamp, Jyoti means light, and stambha means pillar. These columns are placed outside the temple complex and are lit with oil lamps on special occasions. Notable large deepa stambhas can be seen at Mahalsa Temple in Ponda, Goa; Shanta Durga Temple in Goa; Harsidhhi Temple in Ujjain; Tekari Temple in Dewas; Khandoba Temple in Jejuri; Mangueshi Temple in Mangeshi; Sri Yellamma Renuka temple in Saundatti; Sharana Basaveshwara Temple in Gulbarga; and Banashankari Amma Temple near Badami in Karnataka, among others.
