Dayton International Airport
Dayton International Airport, officially James M. Cox Dayton International Airport, is a public airport about 10 miles north of downtown Dayton, Ohio. It is owned by the City of Dayton and sits in Montgomery County at 3600 Terminal Drive. Its IATA code is DAY and its ICAO code is KDAY. The airport is the headquarters for PSA Airlines (American Eagle).
It is the third busiest and third largest airport in Ohio, behind Cleveland Hopkins and John Glenn Columbus. Cincinnati’s airport is busier but is located in Kentucky.
The airport has three runways and two passenger concourses (A and B). Runways are:
- 06L/24R: 10,901 feet (3,323 meters), asphalt/concrete
- 06R/24L: 7,285 feet (2,220 meters), concrete
- 18/36: 8,502 feet (2,591 meters), asphalt/concrete
In 2024, Dayton International handled about 645,930 passenger enplanements and 36,502 aircraft operations, with cargo around 7,421 tons. About 34 aircraft were based there in 2021.
There are no regularly scheduled international flights today. The airport used to be a major freight hub for Emery Worldwide and later UPS, but the freight facility closed in 2006.
The airport has seen several upgrades, including a new air traffic control tower in 2011 and a parking garage that opened in 2010. The airport covers about 4,200 acres.
PSA Airlines announced in January 2025 that it plans to move its corporate headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina by January 2026. Dayton will keep a maintenance hangar and flight crew location and about 550 total employees. In early 2025, Air Wisconsin announced layoffs related to changes in its regional jet operations.
Dayton International serves the Dayton area with several airlines, destinations, ground transportation, car rentals, and dining and shopping options.
