Darryl Ford (born June 22, 1966) is a former gridiron football linebacker who played in the NFL and the CFL. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and went to Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, where he didn’t start playing football until his sophomore year but later excelled, earning All-District honors and Dallas Morning News All-Star recognition.

Ford played college football at New Mexico State University, where he was a four-year starter at outside linebacker. He set several school records: as a freshman he had 107 tackles, as a sophomore 154 tackles (a single-season school record) with 6 sacks, and as a senior 164 tackles with 6 sacks. He finished as the school’s all-time leading tackler with 511 and earned All-Big West honors.

Undrafted in 1989, Ford signed with the Dallas Cowboys but was released before the season began. He moved to the Canadian Football League and joined the Toronto Argonauts in 1990. In 1991 he led the CFL with 155 tackles, added 3 sacks and 3 interceptions, was a CFL All-Star, and helped Toronto win the Grey Cup, recording 9 tackles and 2 sacks in the championship game.

In 1992 Ford spent time with NFL teams, starting with the Detroit Lions’ practice squad. He was then signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 8 games before being waived. He returned to the Lions for the 1992 season finale and played 11 games in 1993 before being released. He signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 1994 and spent the season there. He later played for the Memphis Mad Dogs in 1995 and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 1996.

Ford finished his CFL career with 252 tackles, 4.0 sacks and 5 interceptions. He earned a Grey Cup championship in 1991 and was a CFL All-Star that year, with college honors including a First-team All-Big West selection in 1988.
