Casey Guernsey
Casey Guernsey (born October 14, 1980) is an American Republican politician and farmer from Bethany, Missouri. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015, first for the 3rd District (2009–2013) and then for the 2nd District (2013–2015) after redistricting. The districts cover parts of north central Missouri. He won the newly created 2nd District in 2012 and announced on January 31, 2014 that he would not seek re-election in 2014 or run for the Missouri Senate.
Guernsey was born near the Colorado Springs area and grew up in Bethany, Missouri, graduating from South Harrison R-II High School in 1999. He earned a BS in Business Administration from the College of the Ozarks in 2003. He is a seventh-generation farmer active in dairy and beef production and previously worked as a policy analyst for U.S. Representatives Roy Blunt and Sam Graves. He is involved with Blue Ridge Christian Union Church and organizations such as the NRA, NFIB, and Rotary. His family has political ties, including ancestors Senator Charles A. Guernsey and Missouri State Senator Richard Gentry.
Political career notes: Guernsey first ran for State Representative in 2006 but lost to Jim Whorton. Whorton was term-limited in 2008, and Guernsey won that year, with an unopposed run in 2010. In 2012 he won the newly created 2nd District seat, defeating independent Jim Nash. He did not seek re-election in 2014 and did not pursue a Senate bid, though he left open the possibility of future office and remained active in Republican politics.
