Wade High School
Wade High School was a government-funded, co-educational secondary school in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia. It opened in 1971 and closed in December 2018 when it merged with Griffith High School to form Murrumbidgee Regional High School. Before closing, about 720 students attended the school with around 63 staff.
Most students came from East Griffith, Driver, and Collina, and the main feeder school was Griffith East Public School. Other students came from farming areas such as Yenda, Yoogali, Rankins Springs, Beelbangera, Bilbul, and Binya, with some traveling long distances to attend.
The school followed a structure where years 7–8 were the middle school, years 9–10 completed the School Certificate, and years 11–12 finished the HSC.
Facilities included two renovated kitchens for food technology, a large hall for indoor sports and gatherings, two computer rooms (one with iMacs and IBM PCs) and a music room connected to a multimedia room with eMacs. After a fire, B Block was renovated. Fifteen new classrooms with updated equipment and air conditioning were added, and F Block added seven air-conditioned classrooms. Outdoor facilities included two soccer fields, six netball courts, two basketball courts, and two cricket pitches.
Wade High hosted annual swimming and athletics carnivals; swimming was held at the Griffith Aquatic Centre in term one, and athletics at West End Oval in term three. Students were divided into four houses—Bradman, Fraser, Laver, and McKay—competing in events for points. Wade High and Griffith High School also hosted the Nugan Shield each year, a series of sporting events. Wade High School was known for its success in sports.
