Darko Maletić
Darko Maletić is a Bosnian football manager and former player who was born on 20 October 1980 in Banja Luka. He played as a midfielder and later became a coach.
He’s known for a unique record: he played in the UEFA Cup for five clubs in five different countries—Rapid Wien (Austria), Publikum Celje (Slovenia), Zenit Saint Petersburg (Russia), Partizan (Serbia), and Aktobe (Kazakhstan).
Club career highlights
Maletić began his career at his hometown club Borac Banja Luka and played there from 1997 to 2001. He then moved to Rapid Wien (2001–2002), followed by Publikum Celje (2002–2004). He spent a year with Zenit Saint Petersburg (2004) and another with Shinnik Yaroslavl (2005). In 2006 he joined Vaslui in Romania, then moved to FK Partizan in Serbia, where he won the double crown. He later played for Koblenz in Germany (2009–2010) before returning to Borac Banja Luka (2010–2011). He continued his career with Aktobe (2011–2012) and Irtysh Pavlodar (2012) in Kazakhstan, returned to Borac Banja Luka (2013), then played for Velež Mostar (2013–2015) and finished with Borac Banja Luka again in 2016. Across his club career, he made 312 league appearances and scored 24 goals.
International career
Maletić earned 18 caps for Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2007 to 2012 and scored 1 goal. He debuted in March 2007 against Norway, coming on as a substitute in a 2–1 win. He later scored his first international goal in 2011 in a match against Albania. His final international appearance was a friendly versus Brazil in February 2012.
Coaching career
After retiring, Maletić moved into management and coaching roles. He served as an assistant at FK Karanovac (2017–2019) and at Borac Banja Luka (2019–2020). He later held managerial or coaching positions at Laktaši (2020), Ljubić Prnjavor (2020–2021), Sloboda Mrkonjić Grad (2022–2023), Željezničar Banja Luka (2024), and Kozara Gradiška (2025).
