Dannhauser is a small town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It used to be a coal mining town, and now farming is common in the district, with cattle and sheep raised nearby.

The town was named after German settler Renier Dannhauser, who bought the Palmietfontein farm in 1872, and it was declared a village in 1937. Today Dannhauser covers about 8.9 square kilometres and sits on one main street with the post office, a bank, a pharmacy and a few grocery and hardware stores. Nearby Durnacol housing is cheaper because the coal mines there are no longer active.

As of 2011, about 5,389 people lived in Dannhauser. The population was mainly Black African (about 74%) and Indian/Asian (about 22%), with small numbers of Coloured and White residents. The most spoken languages are isiZulu (about 70%) and English (about 24%).

Time zone: SAST (UTC+2). Area code: 034. Postal code: 3080.
