Forncett
Forncett is a civil parish in Norfolk, England. It covers about 10.76 square kilometres and had a population of 1,126 in 2011. The parish includes the villages of Forncett St Peter’s, Forncett St Mary, Forncett End and Bustard’s Green, and is part of the South Norfolk district. There is also a Forncett electoral ward that stretches north to Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall, with 2,701 residents in 2011.
The Forncett Industrial Steam Museum, on Station Road, displays large stationary steam engines, some shown publicly. Highlights include a 150 horsepower Vickers Armstrong cross-compound pumping engine that was used to open Tower Bridge in London. It was installed at Forncett as a wartime precaution and moved there in 1974; the original engines remain at Tower Bridge. Other exhibits include a Gimson beam engine, Corliss engines, vertical engines and Woolf compound engines. The museum also features tanks, armoured vehicles and weaponry.
