Dörte Haftendorn (born March 25, 1948) is a German mathematician, math educator, and textbook author. She is a professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. She earned her PhD in 1975 from Clausthal University of Technology; her thesis was about additive, commutative, and idempotent semirings with a factor condition, supervised by Hanns J. Weinert. She taught at the Johanneum high school in Lüneburg from 1975 to 2002, then joined Leuphana University as a professor. She wrote two German math textbooks: Mathematik sehen und verstehen (Seeing and understanding mathematics), published in 2010 with a 2nd edition in 2015, for a general audience; and Kurven erkunden und verstehen (Exploring and understanding curves), published in 2016, an introductory geometry book emphasizing curves and GeoGebra.
