MetaArcade was a Seattle-area video game company founded in 2016 by David Reid. It built mobile interactive fiction and the Adventure Creator platform, which lets people make text-based adventures for phones. In 2016, MetaArcade released Tunnels & Trolls Adventures, a game based on the classic tabletop RPG, which won MMORPG.com’s Best Mobile MMO or RPG award at PAX West 2016. In 2018 they released Cthulhu Chronicles, a collection of interactive adventures inspired by Call of Cthulhu. In late 2019 the company sold the Tunnels & Trolls Adventures and Adventure Creator to Trollhalla Press Unlimited (owned by Ken St. Andre), with the sale announced in early 2020. MetaArcade also sold the Cthulhu Chronicles assets to Chaosium. The company shut down in 2020. It was based in Mercer Island, Washington, and had about 12 employees in 2018.
