Cyrtodesmus lobatus is a small millipede that lives only in San Vito, Costa Rica. It was first found on April 19, 1972 and described by Harold Loomis in 1974. The female is about 14 mm long and 2.8 mm wide. Its back is strongly rounded, and side ridges begin at the third body segment and flare toward the middle, ending at the sides of the body segments. Most of the surface is smooth, but areas with hairs or spines have a thin coating of organic matter. The head is dark and has thick, slanted ridges between the antennae, with a narrow channel running between them. There is a raised square corner beside the antenna. It belongs to the order Polydesmida, family Cyrtodesmidae, genus Cyrtodesmus.
