Cryme Tyme

Cryme Tyme was an American professional wrestling tag team made up of JTG and Shad Gaspard. They were best known for their over-the-top, comedic “street thug” gimmick and were from Brooklyn, New York.

They started in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) as The Gang Stars and won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship in 2006. They moved to WWE and were renamed Cryme Tyme on Raw in 2006, where vignettes showed them “training” by stealing things. Their humor and the catchphrase “Money, money, yeah, yeah” made them fan favorites.

Cryme Tyme wrestled on Raw and at pay-per-views, and they even had a brief association with John Cena in 2008, forming Cryme Tyme Cenation. They returned to SmackDown in 2009 with Eve Torres as their valet and challenged for the tag titles, but lost to Jeri-Show (Chris Jericho and Big Show) at SummerSlam.

In 2010, on-screen tensions led to Cryme Tyme breaking up. Gaspard moved to WWE developmental, and both were released from WWE later that year (Gaspard) and in 2014 (JTG). They continued wrestling on the independent circuit as Crime Time and still teamed up at times.

Shad Gaspard died on May 17, 2020. In 2022, WWE gave him the Warrior Award at the Hall of Fame.
