Courting Chaos

Courting Chaos is a 2014 American film written and directed by Alan Clay, a filmmaker from New Zealand. It is based on his book Angels Can Fly, a Modern Clown User Guide. The story follows a Beverly Hills girl who falls in love with Chaos, a Venice Beach street clown. To save the relationship, she must overcome her inhibitions and learn to be a clown herself.

Production notes:
Filming and post-production were completed in six weeks to keep the film’s spontaneous feel. Composer Sherri Chung created the music during the script and shoot, while editor Rachel Ann Pearl worked on set from day one. Seven camera operators captured live street theatre scenes with real audiences and performer perspectives. A rough cut was ready after four weeks, a fine cut a week later, and the music was recorded and mixed soon after.
