Comana Monastery (Romanian: Mănăstirea Comana) is a Romanian Orthodox monastery in Comana, Giurgiu County, Romania. It was founded in 1461 by Vlad Țepeș (Vlad the Impaler) as a monastery and fortress. The original building later fell into ruin and was completely rebuilt in 1589 by Prince Radu Șerban. The new complex measures about 61 by 56 meters and is surrounded by defensive walls and five towers. It was restored from 1699 to 1703 by Șerban Cantacuzino, with further restorations in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 1861, Ioan Brezoianu rediscovered the foundation of the original monastery. Archaeology in the 1970s uncovered a headless body on the site, which some think could be Vlad the Impaler, perhaps buried near the battlefield where he was killed.
