Chronological list of men's major golf champions

As of the 2025 season, 474 major championships have been decided in men’s professional golf. 234 different players have won one of the four majors. The modern definition of the majors has been in place since the 1960s, but wins from earlier eras are now recognized by the sport’s governing bodies. Players are listed here in order of their first major win. The four majors are The Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open, and The Open Championship, and they are usually played in that calendar order. However, the schedule has varied over time, and since 2019 the PGA Championship has been the second major of the year. In 2020, COVID-19 caused disruptions: The Open Championship was canceled, and The Masters was held in November after the other two majors.
