Chlorogomphus campioni
Chlorogomphus campioni, the Nilgiri mountain hawk, is a dragonfly in the family Chlorogomphidae. It is found only in the Western Ghats of India and is listed as Least Concern.
Distribution
- Occurs in high mountains of the Western Ghats: South Canara and Kodagu in Karnataka; Malabar in Kerala; Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu.
Description
- Size: large.
- Head: broad, eyes emerald green and moderately separated.
- Thorax: black with three oblique bright yellow stripes.
- Wings: transparent with dark brown tips and a black pterostigma.
- Abdomen: black with yellow markings.
- Sexes: female looks very similar to the male.
Habitat and behavior
- Typically seen soaring at high altitudes in the Western Ghats.

- Named after Herbert Campion.
