History
Chilworth station opened on 20 August 1849 as “Chilworth and Albury” on the Reading, Guildford and Reigate Railway. It later became part of the South Eastern Railway and then the Southern Railway. The station was destaffed in November 1967. The signal box closed in 1978, with signalling moved to nearby boxes at Shalford and Gomshall. The original Victorian footbridge and road crossing gates were removed and later sold to the East Somerset Railway.

During peak hours, this increases to one train per hour in each direction. On Sundays, eastbound trains only run as far as Redhill.

Passenger numbers
Recent figures show growth from about 6,000 passengers in 2020/21 to around 27,000 in 2024/25.
