Children’s Hospital and Institute of Child Health is a public teaching hospital for children in Lahore, Pakistan. It sits on Ferozepur Road and is managed by the Punjab Health Department. The institution also includes the Institute of Child Health, the School of Nursing, and the School of Allied Health Sciences.
The hospital has about 1,100 beds. Outpatient services opened in May 1995, emergency services began in October 1996, and inpatient services started in December 1998.
History: The idea for a child health institute was discussed in 1984 at the Pakistan Paediatric Association. Construction began in 1990. Professor Saeed-ul-Haque was the first project director, presenting the plan to the President of Pakistan and the Pakistan Paediatric Association.
Education and programs: The hospital provides postgraduate training for doctors in many disciplines and hosts the School of Nursing and the School of Allied Health Sciences. Allied health programs include Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Doctor of Physical Therapy, Bachelor of Science in Dental Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Occupational Therapy, Operation Theater Technology, and Speech and Language Pathology.
