Chestnut clearwing moth

The chestnut clearwing moth (Coptotriche perplexa) was a small moth native to the United States. It belonged to the Tischeriidae family. It had clear wings and a dark, metallic blue abdomen with a yellow band around it. It depended on the American chestnut tree for food, and when chestnut blight wiped out most of these trees, the moth lost its main food source. By 1996 it was extinct.
